The Artist News Network is an art practice, a collectively curated news platform and a growing archive for critical consumption of current media and events.
The Artist News Network launched in January 2021 as a platform for artists and creatives to share news, media, and stories that capture their attention and shape their understanding of the world. Readers are offered a glimpse of events through the eyes of inspirational and critical thinkers. Participants are invited for one week to take over the @artistnewsnetwork Instagram page and share their stories as Guest Selectors. This growing archive consists of unique snapshots of time, stories, discourse, and lives as a collective record of events and opinions.
Current stories are posted regularly on the Everyday page as well as on the Artist News Network Instagram, Threads, and Bluesky.
The project was founded by Max Rippon, an artist and curator based in Los Angeles. His practice examines the narratives, distortions, and psychological impact of contemporary news media through dialogue and labor spent creating works from these shares stories. Archive is the art. Art is the archive.
