Blair Taylor
Blair Taylor came of age in New York City’s art world of the mid-2000’s. She immersed herself and lived deeply within the intoxicating and chaotic world of the artists and galleries that were its stars. Her work, passion, and written words have accompanied the rise of artists like Dash Snow, Hanna Liden, Dan Colen, Kunle Martins and others and earned her a seat at the tables of Gagosian, Peres Projects, and Hauser & Wirth. After much triumph and tragedy Blair parted ways with the turmoil of the art world and moved West to co-found a handmade glassware business called Asp & Hand. She also acted as the founding director of the Dash Snow Archive and continued to champion his legacy. Taylor wrote numerous essays for catalogs, exhibitions, and monographs of so many artists and friends she admired. Because, while art was always been at the centre of her life, it was truly her family, friends, and their stories that keep her stoking the creative embers.
Perhaps Blair’s belief that “sometimes all we need is dialogue” is what led her to accept the invitation be part of the Artist News Network.
Blair sadly passed away in 2025.

Blair Taylor worked at art galleries and in artists’ studios around New York City for fifteen years before starting a handmade glassware business called Asp & Hand. Following that, Taylor turned toward work as a freelance writer and curator.

It’s interesting that Max asked me to do this project, because I swore off the news starting around 2018 or so, for my mental health. I always made exceptions to read my brother-in-law’s (George Pendle) writing. Here he is choosing a typically brilliant, humanizing angle on a major news item (the death of the queen). George is the best.
