GUEST CURATOR - A. S. Hamrah

A. S. Hamrah

Oct. 18 – 22, 2021

A. S. Hamrah is an author, film critic, and avid cinema historian whose deep knowledge and care for the medium shines through in his incisive and humorous critiques. He has compared Hollywood and the entertainment industry to a war machine, counting himself among its casualties. This week for the Artist News Network he aims his sights at the news that sashays in the shadows of our screens: big, small, and handheld.

For five days Hamrah shared items from movies and television that are tawdry, depressing, and symptomatic, or hidden and underreported, as well as news from the world of arts and letters that may be the same.

A. S. Hamrah is the film critic for The Baffler and the author of the book 'The Earth Dies Streaming: Film Writing, 2002-2018’, from n+1  Books. He is also the producer of The Hoosac Institute new feature documentary film, BUNKER. His work can also be found in publications including Harper’s Magazine, Bookforum, and 4Columns. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.
